Witness of Renaissance architecture and French classicism, the Château de Grignan has had a turbulent history. Castle mentioned in the 11th century, it was transformed in the Renaissance into a prestigious house by the Adhémar family. In the 17th century, the Marquise de Sevigné stayed there with her daughter Françoise-Marguerite. Dismantled during the Revolution and rebuilt in the early 20th century, since 1979 it has belonged to the Department of Drôme, which is pursuing an ambitious restoration program.
The works concerned the restoration of the elevations of the courtyard of the Well and the ramparts, in the extension of the rehabilitation of the main facade. The floors of the courtyard are a contemporary creation, in the spirit of the Renaissance.
