Historical Cellar of the Domaine de la Chaize Odenas (69)
Located in the heart of the Brouilly crus, in the commune of Odenas, the Château de la Chaize is one of the largest chaêteaux in the Beaujolais. It was built in teh 17th century.
The monumental volume of the cellar, the largest in the Beaujolais region since 1811, was in urgent need of upgrading, modernizing, and renewing the production tools.
Its restoration and redevelopement have preserved all the characteristics that make this cellar an exceptional winegrowing and historical heritage, with its elegant rusticity and refined sobriety. As far as the building is concerned, the know-how and simplicity of the materials were preserved dnd highlighted (e.g. parquet flooring made from barrel staves ; dans as far as the furniture is concerned, any superfluous decorative effects or mannerisms were avoided. The wine-making process has been replaced and a contemporary underground cellar has been built opposite the historical cellar.
